logo + branding
the backstory
Play Therapy Training Resources was born from a need to provide continuing education to play therapists nationwide. Previously a part of the Center for Counseling and Family Relationships’ training arm, this Fort Worth-based brand launched in October 2021 with a mission to equip mental health professionals and make a lasting impact on the next generation of mental health professionals.
the goal
The goal of the PTTR branding project was to create a modern and playful brand that would capture counselors’ attention with its energy and professionalism. That brand would then be used for kick-off conference materials, a brand new website, and even a sub-brand for a play therapy product called ALLMEE©.
the process
The challenge with PTTR was targeting the right audience with the brand. Our audience was play therapy counselors, not children, and not parents of children in play therapy. We struck a balance by using organic shapes in typography and symbols, with an expansive but less-saturated color palette for a more professional feeling.
Once we had the fonts and colors selected, and had ruled out any iconography we didn’t think fit with the brand, it was a matter of ironing out the different versions and use cases of the logo.
